eSIM Compatible Devices in 2025

iPhone · Samsung · Google Pixel · Xiaomi · Motorola · Tablets

Before purchasing an eSIM plan for your European trip, confirming your device's compatibility is essential. This guide covers every major smartphone brand and model line, with notes on regional variants and carrier-lock considerations.

Apple iPhone

Apple was among the first major manufacturers to adopt eSIM, introducing it with the iPhone XS and XR in 2018. All subsequent iPhone models support eSIM, and from the iPhone 14 onward (US models), Apple removed the physical SIM tray entirely, making eSIM the only option.

Samsung Galaxy

Samsung introduced eSIM support with the Galaxy S20 series in 2020. Coverage is now extensive across the Galaxy S, Z Fold, and Z Flip lines, though some budget A-series models and carrier-specific variants may lack eSIM capability. Note that Samsung devices sold in certain markets (notably South Korea and some Asian markets) may have eSIM disabled by the carrier.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi has been slower to adopt eSIM, but recent flagship models support it. The Xiaomi 13 series, 14 series, and some Redmi Note models include eSIM. Availability varies significantly by regional variant — Chinese market models typically lack eSIM support.

Motorola

Motorola's Razr foldable series and Edge+ flagships support eSIM. The Moto G series varies by model and region. Motorola devices sold in Europe generally have better eSIM support than US carrier-locked variants.

Due to US trade restrictions, Huawei devices face significant limitations with Google services and international carrier compatibility. eSIM support on Huawei devices is limited and generally not recommended for international travel.

Tablet travel

Tablets are increasingly popular travel companions, and many cellular-capable models now support eSIM. This is particularly useful for travelers who use tablets as their primary work device.
